Uncover Last Year's Insights to Propel This Year's Goals

Like many of you, as I sat down to reflect on the past year and set my intentions for the new one, I couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude for the growth and learnings that 2023 brought into my life. So in this latest podcast episode, I shared my annual personal review a practice I adopted from Sahil Bloom, a creator and podcaster whose thought-provoking newsletters have been a source of inspiration for me.

Through this annual review process, I gained powerful insights that have not only paved the way for personal growth, but also illuminated the path forward in my leadership coaching journey.

Timestamped Key Takeaways from the Episode:

[00:08:46] Embracing Big, Hairy, Audacious Goals: One of the most significant shifts for me in 2023 was changing my perspective on goal-setting. I realized that in order to make a meaningful impact, I needed to set bigger and scarier goals. I embraced the concept of "big, hairy, audacious goals" (BHAGs) introduced by Jim Collins and Jerry Porras, understanding that these goals, while daunting, have the potential to drive substantial positive change in both my personal and professional life.

[00:11:47] Energy Sources: I identified activities and practices that created energy for me in 2023, such as meditation, walks in nature, and early morning exercise. I also explored the impact of incorporating baroque music into my work routine, revealing its ability to enhance focus and productivity.

[00:13:10] Setting Boundaries: Reflecting on the factors that drained my energy, I acknowledged the importance of respecting and prioritizing my own boundaries. I realized that saying no to long virtual meetings and being assertive about my limitations is crucial for maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

[00:15:13] Assessing Social Circles: I discussed the significance of evaluating the people in my life and the impact of their presence. Recognizing and distancing myself from individuals who served as "boat anchors," or those who hindered my progress and did not support my aspirations, has been a pivotal part of my growth journey.

[00:18:01] Confronting Fear: I admitted to holding back on certain goals due to fear but emphasized the importance of conquering these fears by making audacious moves and pursuing my aspirations on my own terms.

REFLECT AND TAKE ACTION:

I invite you to join me on this journey of self-discovery, growth, and leadership, and encourage you to take the time to reflect, pivot, and lead your way into a fulfilling and purpose-driven future. Some questions to get you started: What created energy for you this year? What did you not do because of fear? Who served as anchors in my life?

Thank you for tuning in! I hope you found this episode insightful and thought-provoking. Remember to be kind to yourself and others as we navigate the complexities of life and embrace the power of guilt in our transformation.

Until next time, Cheers to your Pivot🥂!!
